Thx for the tips, guys.  It after some research, it
appears that Win XP is the barrier.  One resource
suggested that increasing non-paged memory would help.
 I did that, but it had no effect.

Let me know if you have some other ideas for me to
try.  -s


btw- m_NumFiles = numfiles ... sorry for the typo
