Of course.

Some security folks within Google will likely do a security audit of libtiff4 in the next couple months but any corresponding changes can go into 4.0.1.

Hopefully they will submit good patches.

On the basis of this discussion, I think it makes sense for me to wait for a final 4.0.0 release, assuming that happens relatively quickly. It would be a couple of weeks before I would have time to prepare the new debian packages anyway, and I also have to coordinate with the release team since the transition to 4.0.0 will be relatively disruptive, but necessary and very worth doing. Thanks all.
