We are using TIFF to store image data for large format, high resolution printers (eg. proofers, film and plate setting devices).

As these devices get larger and their resolutions get higher, the 4 Gigabyte TIFF limitation gets dangerously close. In fact, we would already be exceeding the 4Gb limit if not for our use of image compression.

Is there any effort underfoot to define TIFF extensions to accomodate files containing more than 4 Gb of data? Specifically, the need to extend the embedded file offsets (IFD, tags and strip/tile offsets) to 64 bits.
