Dear readers of this list,

currently I am trying Pixel, an image manipulation application by Pavel
Kanzelsberger (http://www.kanzelsberger.com) available for all major
platforms.

I exported a Pixel image as a tiff-image using that application; you can see
the file at http://www.linopus.de/debian/pixeltest.tif
However, on Debian Sarge GNU/Linux using libtiff 3.7.2 pixeltest.tif is not
rendered correctly in applications using libtiff (The Gimp, Scribus,
Konqueror etc.). For the incorrect rendering see a screenshot at
http://www.linopus.de/debian/pixeltest-konqueror.png.

It is rendered correctly, however, on the same system by XnView (which, as far
as I now, does use its own libraries). Additionally, pixeltest.tif is
rendered correctly by Adobe PhotoShop 6 and Deneba Canvas 9 on a Windows
system.

Therefore I am inclined to believe that libtiff is the reason for the
incorrect rendering. If this is a known issue I would like to know if there
is a workaround, if not, I would like to report it as a bug.

Yours sincerely

Tobias Hilbricht
