If you are using LibTIFF, just compile with JPEG support on, (not OJPEG ) and you should be able to read and write JPEG files, including tiled ones.

See www.libtiff.org for more info on configuring the library correctly for JPEG support.

The proper compression code is 7, and you MUST NOT use the TIFF 6.0 Documentation to write an Interchange JPEG. Use the following doc for current TIFF compatibility.
