If I say

    TIFFSetField(tif, TIFFTAG_RESOLUTIONUNIT, RESUNIT_INCH);
    TIFFSetField(tif, TIFFTAG_XRESOLUTION, 100);
    TIFFSetField(tif, TIFFTAG_YRESOLUTION, 100);

I get
