Thread2004.09.02 15:05 "Re: 16bit compressed colormaps", by Julien DemariaHi, In the TIFF specifications 6 page 23 I see that for Palette Color images the BitsPerSample tag should be 4 or 8, but not 16. But it is allowed by libtifff. Are 16 bit images with colormap "standards" ? (note that in TIFF spec. RGB images should be only 8bits I believe (page 24)). By experience I know that Erdas support them. I think 16 bit images with colormap aren't recommended for general interchange (some peoples wanted use them in one of our project, but I have discouraged them... (the reason was that they want to be able to keep the physical value on 16 bit and also display the image with a special palette...)). Regards, Julien |
