It should not be necessary to add any definitions at all. If the libtiff configure script is executed with the correct compilation/linking options, the configure script should determine the size of the basic types. If it does not do that then it is broken. Libtiff's configuration should have been converted to Autoconf a long time ago in order to make building/porting easier.
