I had no problem compiling and installing libtiff 3.7.1, but I find it odd that I now have: -rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 375670 Jan 14 13:12 /usr/local/lib/libtiff.a -rwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 847 Jan 14 13:12 /usr/local/lib/libtiff.la -rwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 443852 Jan 14 13:12 /usr/local/lib/libtiff.so@ -rwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 443852 Jan 14 13:12 /usr/local/lib/libtiff.so.10.7.1 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 443852 Jan 14 13:12 /usr/local/lib/libtiff.so.3@ Whence that "10.7.1"? I do see that all the Makefiles contain: LIBTIFF_MAJOR_VERSION = 3 LIBTIFF_MICRO_VERSION = 1 LIBTIFF_MINOR_VERSION = 7 -- JP
