I'm not talking puritanism. I'm talking functionality. I'm talking from
a very pragmatic point of view. Did you think that very basic property
of TIFF was designed in just for the sake of puritanism?

You have ignored large part of the point I tried to make.

- Where is it said or written or even observed that the TIFFs build by
camera's all, or even most of the time, have their first IFD at offset
8? You will no doubt agree that is necessary for the description to make
any sense at all, so if you know this for a fact, please tell us your
source or experience, I'm eager to learn.
- I thought I made sense when I assumed that if there needs to be a
fixed position of the first IFD, for support by Katrina's module, then
most probably either a) she totally forgot about all other data blocks,
totally ignored lots of other options like multiple strips and tiles
which are most common, or either b) imposes restrictions to the position
of these too. That adds to the first point I tried to make, and
generally looks suspicions, and leads to me believe that probably she
supports only the TIFFs made she has tested sofar, by the particular
camera sofar.

If any of this does not make sense, I would like to learn why. If it
does make sense, the logical conclusion is that the description 'only
images taken with the camera are supported' is not a good description at
all, and should be replaced with what I proposed, being 'only images
taken with this or that particular version of this or that particular
camera seem supported'.
