I believe apps like [ remainder of thesis removed ] You talk quite a bit about theory, but there are many layers to this onion, so what seems theoretically correct may not result in a visible difference, or may be in fact theoretically incorrect because yet another factor was ignored. I find this discussion to be interesting, but libtiff is just about moving bits in and out of a file format so I think that there is a much better place to carry on this discussion. The much better place is the mailing list for lcms (http://www.littlecms.com/) which is an open source package which makes the the theoretically possible actually possible for the rest of us. You will find other similar-minded people there. I expect that you will also find information on Bruce Lindbloom's site (http://www.brucelindbloom.com/) to be quite interesting. Particularly his analysis of RGB working spaces and his Beta RGB profile.
