Past versions of libtiff have installed a header called "tiffconf.h". The alpha version of libtiff does not install this header. However, application configure scripts may look for "tiffconf.h" so that it may be included if it exists. That means that this legacy header can cause build problems for software. I recommend that when libtiff is installed, that its Makefile remove any existing tiffconf.h existing in the same directory where the tiff headers are installed.
