2001.12.03 15:58 "Extracting alpha channel from TIFF file?", by Peter Davis

I have a TIFF file which was created as a preview for an EPS file from Adobe Illustrator. I can open the TIFF by itself on Photoshop, and it seems to have both an alpha channel and a clipping path. If I open the EPS in Quark, the alpha channel is used to give the preview a transparent background.

Is there a way I can use the TIFF library or ImageMagick to read this alpha channel from the TIFF file and use it to create a clipping region on Windows 2000? (Once I can get the bits, I know I can create the region.) I've tried using the LEADTOOLS library, but this seems to ignore the transparency and displays the whole image as opaque.

Thanks very much,
