I have run into a curious problem with TIFFs created on my SGI Octane when I transfer them via ftp (binary) to a Mac or PC in Photoshop. They open upside down. I know at least one other person who has the same problem and says he's alway run into this even with different SGI machines over the years. On any of the SGI tools they open correctly. Does anyone know anything about this and possible fixes. I hate the idea of having to batch flip every frame of an animation before writing it to a CD for example (my CD burner is on the PC). I've found nothing on this either at the SGI site or elsewhere on the web. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I guess Photoshop does not conform to the TIFF V6 spec with respect to the orientation.

use tiffinfo or tiffdump to get the value of the orientation tag.

Helge
