Thank you very much for these suggestions. I tried them but am still
getting the following messages:

Incorrect count for field RowsPerStrip (0, expecting 1); tag ignored
Incorrect count for field DateTime (21, expecting 20); tag ignored
Incorrect count for field StripOffsets (2000, expecting 1); tag ignored
Incorrect count for field StripByteCounts (2000, expecting 1); tag
ignored
No space for chopped "StripOffsets" array

It then goes south with a memory exception.

As I am not familiar with the internals of LibTIFF, I appreciate any
other suggestions you might have.
