Speaking as a DIG member :-)....

I'm not sure, but they are at least talking a good game right now. The type of project they are proposing is much more along the lines of an open source initiative, but spearheaded by the DIG with industry support. It should work kinda like this project but with Adobe at the table helping to make it happen, as well as a lot of other major players.
