Folks,

I am definetely not an expert in this stuff, but my understanding is
that the license terms start working when the one distributes software
binaries (sources must be available too as GPL requires). So if you do
not want to be infected you just should not use JBIG library in your
distributed software. On other hand authors of the free software (such
as Linux distros) can switch this option on, because libtiff sources are
always available. Please, correct me if my thoughts are wrong.

Patents is a separate problem and I am living it out of this discussion.
