Er, I thought that libtiff was a private framework of ImageIO. So yes, 
we were always in in agreement. I was just trying to explain the comment 
from Chris that libtiff exists in OSX. Yes, it does exist on OSX but it 
is not to be used (unless, you work for Apple? ;) ).
