Should I submit any code to the team? Being new to this process, how would I do that? (file attachment? CVS access? other?)
Submit it to the bugzilla. See http://www.remotesensing.org/libtiff/bugs.html.

In order for your watermarking code to be of sufficient use to be delivered with libtiff, it should support all the formats supported by tiffcp, or at least everything supported by the simplified 8-bit RGB interface. Needless to say, that is a big job.
Nevertheless, even partial code can be useful in the bugzilla. Someone else may be willing to work on it.
Gerben.
