I've offered to host the list (conditionally, depending on some questions I sent Sam). I can also create a newsgroup; but it would be hosted and served on my server, rather than broadcast throughout Usenet. (That might be good as it would reduce spam. But it would be bad for people whose short-sighted employers restrict them to a single news server.)
I haven't looked in detail at the dejanews communities; however, I really don't like to access newsgroups through a web gateway. I prefer the leaner, quicker access provided by a local news reader, and the convenience of a local archive.
If you'd like to test access to a local group here, I've set one up. In some mail programs, you'll be able to simply link on the URL; in others, you'll have to configure my server (news.cerious.com) and subscribe to the specific group.

Please post some messages to see if you like the idea.
Kind regards,
Phillip
