Has anyone done any profiling in order to find out what type of bottlenecks currently exist in libtiff?

I've heard of well known tif viewers whose speed, ( on a windoze system... ) drop down dramatically as soon as RAM allocated to them is not three time the size of uncompressed tif file.

Forgot the name...

For my experience, opening "mapped" on windows system, - with the standard fopen(".tif", "r") - if you have a lot RAM.....
