Thanx Joris, But i think i was not able to express my problem. let me try that again. PROBLEM: I have a 1 page tiff file and i want to get its thumbnailview as another tiff file. I am able to get the thumbnail view for the single page tiff file but along with the thumbnail view i get one more page appended to the same file to which i am writing the data and this page is the actual page in its original size. I just wana know if thumbnail view for a single page tiff file is possible and if yes how? If u wana see my code i can provide it to u. I have understood the functioning of TIFFSetField() and TIFFSetDirectory() thanx for the summary u have given. Also i will read the other reference material u have provided. thanx for such a quick response Priyanshu BITS,Pilani
