I have compiled bmp2tiff.c module to test conversion from BMP to TIFF

file with jpeg compression. I configured libtiff the latest jpeg-8c library and ran bmp2tiff with such command line arguments: -c jpeg c:\1.bmp c:\1.tif

The resulted file appeared to be totally black:

Several tools distributed with libtiff are so antique they should be entirely discontinued if no one is interested in updating them. The BMP and GIF version support in the libtiff tools is so antique that it does not work with the normal current versions of such files.

I suggest using GraphicsMagick (or perhaps ImageMagick) for such conversions.
