is there any utility which is usually used to construct "8 pixels per byte" buffer from certain text file? since TIFFWriteEncodedStrip needs to be fed by uncompressed image data to create the .tiff file..

or how is the easy way of doing that? (do I need to use masks and/or bit operations ?)

What do you mean as a text file? The text in human readable language or an array of ASCII numbers representing a pixel values?
