I'm in complete agreement with you on that. I don't like "betas", either. However, what I am saying is that it's important to get submitted patches committed to the repository so that they can be tested and used.

I would commit them, myself, but last time I tried to do any commits I didn't seem to have access any more. If it's the same to you I'm happy to let you and others do the commits. I wasn't really doing any libtiff development work, anyway, just committing other people's patches.
