I've done a tiffdump, seems you may be right.

Magic: 0x4949<little-endian> Version: 0x2a<ClassicTIFF> Directory 0: offset 29368 (0x72b8) next 0 (0)

Does this mean theres a problem with the file or the libtiff library?

Tom,

That was the whole report? If so it seems there is something screwy about the file but it is still not completely conclusive. Do you know how to capture just the first part of the file? On linux I would do:

dd if=gebco_nordic_mareano_utm33.tif of=header.dat ibs=1 count=100000

But that won't work on windows unless you have cygwin or something similar. If you can get a first 100K or so of the file and email it directly to me I'll investigate a bit deeper.

Best regards,
