Let us be clear here - the BAD tiff wasn't created by MY code using libtiff. It was created by Photoshop.

The tiff file I create opens perfectly in every application I have access to.

Yes, the file is corrupt because Photoshop forgot to write the SampleFormat=3 tag. It's a bug in Photoshop.
