I am guessing that the 3.8.2 download came from visiting ³libtiff.org", and going to the download link ³libtiff.maptools.org/dl/", which redirects to ³dl.maptools.org/dl/libtiff², which is libtiff v3.8.2. Seems like by far the most sensible choice on a Google search for libtiff.
Doesn¹t help that the other link, remotesensing, is dead, and that maptools hosts the correct home page, but incorrect code.
Really, quite a disaster, all these links, with all the ones _looking_ like the right attributions actually being exactly the wrong ones.
Yes, it is a disaster. It would be useful if someone would put up enough money to buy libtiff.org from the domain-squatter since that is libtiff's rightful place.

to host everything at libtiff.info on GitHub.
It looks like libtiff.info redirects to the top of my web server, and not just to the portion designated for libtiff.
All of the libtiff web content comes from the libtiff CVS server (and is also contained in each release tarball). There is no reason why libtiff.info can not be serving up current libtiff web pages already. Based on past history, redundancy is good.
