The problem have been reported under Slackware box. And the most strange is than where digikam fail, Imagemagick tiff loader work fine.

This point is very important. To have checked the ImageMagick tiff loader, the implemenations are similar.

That, and the fact that, to the best of my knowledge, no such error has been reported sofar, seems to point in the same direction. Possible, the problem is not related to LibTiff. It may be just one of those very hard bugs that comes from improper memory usage in totally unrelated code, or something.

In any case, I don't think we have a good angle here to investigate it. Personally, I certainly have no access to a machine that shows this behaviour. If you have, I'm wondering, do you have a proper IDE or otherwise support for tracing through the code on such a machine? Actually seeing where the wrong samples per pixel value comes from in LibTiff, finding the exact place where trouble begins this way, may or may not shed some light on this. If not, I suggest you just leave it be for now. That's what I'd do if there's no firm deadline on solving this, as I'm willing to bet the problem mysteriously disappears when you solved some other bugs.

Not very helpful, I know... Sorry.
