We have a number of tiff files that seem to have been wrecked

The process that created these munged files, as far as I can tell, is:

  The NeXT application``grab'' created them.
  They were ftp'd from the next to the SGI
  They were ftp'd back to the next
  We received an error in our image previewer

Any suggestions as to what went wrong?

One guess is that one of the ftp's was done using "ascii" mode instead of "binary". I see this mistake happen all the time.
