I can not compile tiff-3.7.0 and tiff-3.7.1 on solaris 8 and I always get the following error. tiff 3.6.1 does compile! So what can be the problem?

I'm using the sun workshop compiler 8.0.

Libtiff is written in C, not C++. Make sure that you compile it using a C compiler.
