Thank you very much for the pointers you provided me; I'll review the specs carefully.

Right now, I'm having difficulty figuring out what portions of JBIG2 are supported by Acrobat 5.0's JBIG2Decode filter--whatever I do will have to be governed by what Acrobat 5.0 can handle, whether it is right or wrong.

As I think I wrote you earlier, I can't seem to make the download pages you sent me to at alphaavenue.com work...I tried in lynx and then in Opera, and neither browser could retrieve anything on the download pages. I'll have to see if a friend who has Internet Explorer can get it for me, or else perhaps the server isn't working properly at the moment.
