I tried doing a tiff2rgba for the above on Linux and got the following results:

• jim___ah.tif: produced a nice half toned image.

Ditto.

• small_liz.tif, zackthecat.tif: Produced the message ``Old-style JPEG compression support is not configured'' and produced a green image.

Expected behavior... probably we ought to convert these test files to new-style JPEG someday, seeing as how they're doing no one any good as-is.

• quad-jpeg.tif: JPEGSetupDecode: Assertion `sp->cinfo.comm.is_decompressor' failed.

Oh? I don't see that here. What libjpeg release are you using?
