As I understand it, orientation is a display hint, > albeit an important one.

Image formats like TIFF (and Targa, among others) allow different orientations and not supporting it while displaying is ignoring the spec.

Not to be technical, but the Tiff 6.0 spec does say that only Orientation=1 needs to be supported for a baseline TIFF. If you think the bare minimum is enough, then ok.

Now, it's up to you whether or not you want your program to just do the bare minimum. Well, like Brian, for example, has 37 pieces of flair. And a terrific smile.
