I am using :tiff-v3.5.5
On RHEL 5

after installation when I check installation using following command

[root@odn01 libtiffpic]# tiffcmp caspian.tif xx.tif

It gives following error: caspian.tif: Can not read TIFF directory count.

This version is exceedingly old. I recommend upgrading to a modern version if you can.
