I have a file I want to read.

I have tried opening using devIL, which uses libTiff but returns IL_LIB_TIFF_ERROR.

It opens fine in Photoshop but it seems floating point isn't fully supported in libTiff?

Libtiff does support floating point pretty well. The simple 8-bit "RGBA" image API likely does not handle it well since the range and intent of floating point is not well defined.

Can your problem file be made available for download?
