Hi list - regarding the 'spam' email:

Here is what has happened: When Sam (the guy that wrote libtiff) left SGI the list moved to tiff@olympiakos.com As a courtesy to people that still posted via tiff@sgi.com the new list allowed postings coming from:

tiff@sgi.sgi.com
owner-tiff@sgi.sgi.com
tiff@sgi.com
owner-tiff@sgi.com

even if they are NOT members of the tiff mailing list that resides at olympiakos.com. However, there is a zero tolerance on this site for for-profit or inappropriate postings, including any form of 'spam', so I will disable this 'relay' feature effective immediately. You won't receive spam email via the list again unless the spamers get really smart. Note that if your postings don't go through you will have to subscribe to the list by sending email to tiff-request@olympiakos.com or tiff-digest-request@olympiakos.com for the digest version.

There are bounced postings from 'spammers' every day. I wonder what will happen when one day they figure out that they can subscribe, post their junk, and unsubscribe. Scary thought. Then we'll have to institute a subscription policy based on referrals! :-)

regards,
Kiriakos Georgiou
