So applications compiled with VC++ 6 are usually far more portable than applications compiled with later VC++ versions.

I don't disagree with your various opinions. It still makes sense in some situations. That is why I keep a working copy of VC++ 6 here.

There may come a time when applications built with VC++ 6 won't work any more due to security and functionality concerns.
