Thank you so much for digging into this Leonard, this is a big help.

For the time being, then, should anyone here (or elsewhere...) wishing to register new Tiff Tags or Compression Types coordinate with you, or is there a specific contact person/email?

Best,

Kemp

OK - update on this.

(for obvious reasons) our Camera Raw team has taken ownership of the TIFF registry and has been manually keeping it updated in recent months - so all these changes should have been applied.

They are also working with our internal IT team to get an improved registry back online.

This should keep things moving smoothly...We apologize again for the problems.

Leonard, could you pass me Shantanu Narayen's email or contact info? I'd like to speak with him, and I'm quite willing to fly to San Jose to get these registries sorted out, and to find out why Adobe seems unwilling to support their own format or to acknowledge that they might not be willing. TIFF is a major format, and committed maintenance of the format is an important issue for many of us.

We could potentially do the same. Assuming the tags are allocated in a linear order, if we jumped all the way to e.g. 50000 we would avoid clashes with Adobe tag registration for some time to come. Or if Adobe could grant us a chunk of e.g. 1000 tags, we could manage their usage and standardisation ourselves.

I just submitted a changeset such that COMPRESSION_ZSTD is changed to 50000 and COMPRESSION_WEBP is changed to 50001.
