As I have discovered this library saves bigTiff files only if "w8" argument is passed. This is ok until you save a compressed image and you can not foresee the output size of the image. It would have been perfect to keep smaller files as a standard (vers 42) tiff files.
Hm, I just wonder: if you can't foresee this, how should libtiff?!
