I would appreciate if some consensus could be reached on trying to move forward on this bigTIFF action. And if there are solid objections or alternate proposals for reaching the goal of a sustained bigTIFF, to have them submitted and documented sufficiently in order to consider.
At least as pertains to the tiff mailing list there is no expressed lack of consensus (yet).
There are surely other avenues for creating a more formalized BigTIFF specification but no one has expressed concern that the OGC is not a suitable place for it or expressed that there is no value.
It would be good to identify a list of participants (individuals and corporations) who should be involved to help edit, review, and ratify the specification.
