Time to move on... Roger made the effort to do the work. We can't get stuck for eternity with pre-C99 constraints. People that can't cope with C99 can use past releases.

Agreed, especially as it becomes less and less possible to test any of this. What we'll end up with is just the illusion of support for older systems. So I'm ok with both motions.
