I suggest that we use the extension ".WTF". This extension supports "Wide TIFF" (WideTiFf) or could represent other interesting phrases as well. We can then call the format Wide TIFF instead of BigTIFF since the main difference is that the words are wider (64-bit rather than 32 bit).
