Reference thumbnails would useful if someone knew how to read *all* the images. :-)

Not all TIFF images are meant for human consumption or look like a normal image.

  1. Our crossmatched opinion does count for something. Difficult cases can be discussed on the mailing list.
  2. As to impossible-to-figure-out cases, it is usefull to document the conditions that must be avoided in order to not end up in this realm, thumbnails should not be included for these (rare) cases, should not be usefull anyhow
  3. I'm not talking about *all* tiff images, that's a collection that is probably larger then the number of atoms in the universe. I am talking about systematically wading through all bits and pieces that set different files apart, and building a few images for all of these, plus an extra few for any of these that interferes substantially with others.
  4. I believe under those set out goals, the project is feasable, even if not very easy. But then again, usefull projects rarely are very easy.
  5. I'm willing to do it.
