The image comes from a CCD Thomson Camera (TH-8430), and it is saved on a 16-bit buffer, so the data range is [0,4095]. Finally i displayed it with libtiff libraries, but I think it can improve, i'll take a look to the DGM 1.1.
Thanks a lot Bob.

What is 12-bit image? Is it just 16-bit TIFF where the actual dynamic range of the values limited by 12 bit?
True 12-bit TIFF images do exist. Development GraphicsMagick 1.1 (http://www.graphicsmagick.org/) knows how to read and write them (12 bits is not a default output!). Images like this normally come from scientific CCD cameras.
There is a GraphicsMagick build environment for BCB.
