I got my source from the IJG jpeg group.ftp://ftp.uu.net/graphics/jpeg/.

I also have beenable to fix the problem.

 ~/tiff-3.8.2/contrib/ojpeg/README contains very important information. I
followed its instructions

o Append the jdhuff_add.c code to the end of jdhuff.c within the IJG JPEG
   libraries jdhuff.c file and recompile libjpeg (jpeg-6b tested).

Recompiled jpeg as well as libtiff and finished with no errors.

Thanks for your tips.

I recompiled jpeg and libtiff with --enabled-shared and compilation went further than before but died at ~tiff-3.8.2/tools; snapshot of error below;

What is the origin of your libjpeg? The libjpeg I have installed does not include a 'jpeg_reset_huff_decode' symbol and this symbol is not intentionally referenced by any libtiff code as far as I can see.

I have checked the various libjpeg.so libraries on my Solaris system and none of them have this symbol.
