Hello Bob,

i knew about strip chopping and all you said seems logical to me. To be more specific what do you think about G4 compressed bilevel TIFFs with 16300x27501 Pixels per image, striped into 57 RowsPerStrip, where each decoded strip is about 117kb in size? I think chopping applies here.

So let's analyze the Scanline interface. As far as i can tell one have two choices to deal with lines, one is to read a whole strip into memory and use pointer-arithmetic to handle each line. The other is using the Scanline-interface. I think the latter one uses the same technique (?) so whats the point in using strip-reading functions? I can't see any performance benefit in using it, instead of scanline-if.
