Toby,

I tried with new libtiff 4.0 alpha and I got same message error.

OK... Scrolling a few pages to the bottom of your mail, trying to see what you refer to, scrolling to the top again... boy this is fun. Perhaps we ought to invent a notion of reading order. Say, for convinience, top to bottom. I'm in the free world, I cannot patent it, so feel free to give it a try.

You get the error 'can't allocate space for image buffer'. Have you considered that the reason may be that the code cannot allocate the space for the image buffer? Suppose only one buffer is needed, no space is wasted, and regarding only your first IFD, the required buffer would be 38000*16866*3 bytes, is roughly 1.79 gigabyte. Have you tried allocating a space that big on a 32bit Wintel system?

There certainly are approaches that allow you to deal with such imagery on even the smallest of systems. But clearly, LibTiff/tiffcp isn't one of them. Hence, the error.

Best regards,

Joris Van Damme
