Hi Thomas,

I need to write an application that is able to read both tiled and striped 
images efficiently.

For tiled images, I am already using the ReadTile methods. For striped 
images, I was thinking if that "hack" isn't that difficult to write, it 
would be more of a "nice-to-have" function for uncompressed images. I have 
overlooked the part on compression, thanks for bringing it up!!
