That is a recommendable attempt, but regrettably useless. If a thread gets
divided, thread logic is lost. Quotes in the new thread come out of the blue, or
either one cannot use quotes which is equally bad. The choice between multiple
subjects in a single thread, or divided threads, is a choice between bad and
worse.

The archive software uses a multitude of 'clues' to try and deduct thread
relationships. The software isn't perfect (yet), and might never be because
human senders and different mail clients do not behave consistently. But a
subsequent round of human revision aims at making it more perfect, with
'perfect' meaning 'maximized human understanding'. In this case, that means your
recommendable attempt itself needs to be part of the old thread, thus defeating
its purpose...
